The perfect mix of spicy with that bit of sweetness. My favorite way to eat it is by throwing a couple slices of American cheese on top and letting them melt over the dish - it’s a perfect combination, trust me! Add the rice cakes, fish cakes, and water and turn the heat to high. When it starts to boil, bring down to simmer and add soy sauce, kochujang, and sugar. When the sauce has thickened, add dry instant ramen noodles. Stir until noodles have cooked, adding a little more water if necessary. It is a popular dish to many Koreans, particularly amongst teenagers. It gives spicy, delicious and addictive flavor and is quite a filling food.
When I made the first package of this Yopokki Curry Rabokki Cup, I didn't stir it quite thoroughly enough. The cooking instructions still ensured it was well cooked, but the curry seasoning does need a very thorough stirring to ensure consistency. This is a very simple ramen bowl without a lot of veggies, so personally I prefer adding some spinach or other vegetables to mine. It's still a very satisfying plain curry bowl, with plenty of rice cakes that cook to an even soft texture. Highly recommend!!
I LOVED this. It’s an instant meal so of course it’s not going to be as great as a home cooked meal or, in my case, an appetizer you can get at a restaurant, but it really hits the spot when you’re craving some teokkbokki, but you don’t have the ingredients to make it yourself or you don’t feel like making it yourself. It says there’s no instructions in English, but that’s not true because mine did. It said to put the rice cakes in the container, put in the sauce and then fill it with water to the red line on the outside and I think that just means the outside part that’s red because that’s what I did and it was perfectly soft and chewy and delicious.
We’ve all had bad cup noodles. Noodles that were still crunchy or tastes bad. This is not that.
This is absolutely delicious! It cooked well, didn’t require additional resting after cooking to soften, and tastes great. It’s exactly balanced between savory, sweet, spicy, and umami.
If you have sensitive taste buds to heat, this may be too much. But 90% of people will find this tame.
