Delicious recipes

Pour 100ml of water into a pot and when the water boils, add rice cake and sauce and mix. Then simmer over heat for 6-8 minutes.

Surprisingly bland

I've had and made tteokbokki, I've had and made jjangmyeon and the original Chinese Zhajiangmian from which it originated, in fact applying the sauce to all sorts of things like penne pasta because it's delicious. So I was looking forward to this.

Preparation is simple. Add 100 mL of water to the rice cakes and the sauce packet and heat until it reduces to your desired consistency. I did so to my usual jjang consistency, where it's thick enough to cling.

The rice cakes are on the slimmer side than what i'm used to but it's fine as they come out nice and chewy.

I was disappointed at its blandness. The black fermented bean flavor I was expecting is muted. The Tianmian sauce I use for my own cooking is savory and thick. The sauce that comes with this has to flow easily from the packet, so if it's watered down that could be it, since the volume in the packet is less than what I'd use to make this size of dish.

I was so disappointed I made jjang penne the next day to avenge my tastebuds.

Good sauce and rice cakes, but snack sized portions in a LOT of packaging.

These are good and the sweet brown sauce is quite tasty, but there is very little food here considering the size and amount of plastic used. There is a large plastic tray that holds the shape of the bag which then contains two small rice cake packets and two small sauce packets. This would all fit a much more environmentally friendly preparation.

The instructions are in multiple languages so you can easily figure out what to do. I wanted more of a meal so I made mine with a bunch of green beans and diced shitake mushrooms. It was good, though I likely added too much extra as the sauce wasn’t strong enough to give a bold flavor to what all I had – I’ll go lighter on the add-ins next time.

Still, the flavors are quite nice. Most veggies and earthly items will match well to make a bigger and healthier plate.

Yummy and instant!

This was my first time ever trying tteokbokki and it was a pleasant experience. The jjajang sauce is rich, savory and slightly sweet. It's like a korean black bean sauce. Combined with the chewy rice cakes, you get a tasty dish! This seems more like a snack than a meal due to the small portion. I like it though!

My husband and I have never been to Korea but love to try different foods. What a fun surprise this was for us! We decided to use both packages for dinner and add chunks of beef and vegetables. This combination was fun and delicious! We were expecting the Jjajang Sauce to be spicy but it is very mild. In fact, we added pepper to it. We Loved the Topokki Rice Cakes! They are so chewy and delicious! So, for us this has been a 2 day dinner. We really appreciated how there was enough sauce to flavor our additions of meat and vegetables. The sauce has kind of a gravy flavor. We really enjoyed this! We want More!
